July 2012

Dear Praying Friends,

Greetings in our Savior’s name!  We have appreciated hearing from so many of you during these past months, assuring us of your prayers.  As you will notice, we have had a very busy schedule this year.   For the first months we were daily involved in the new revision of the Spanish book, Llegando a Ser un Verdadero Cristiano (Becoming a True Christian). Finally, we were able to send it to the printers in May. We thank the Lord for His strength and enablement.

April 4th     Pastor Luis Canul (assistant pastor of our church in Guadalajara), his wife Dolores, and their three children, Jonathan (31), Rubí (28) and Luis Jr.(27), came for a nine-day visit, which was a real blessing for all of us.  We had a wonderful visit!

April 19th   After caring for my Aunt Leeta Danielson for 8 years, she passed into the presence of our Lord in her sleep.  We thank you for your letters, cards and prayers.

May 7th      We are thankful that Donald, our son, had a successful neck operation.  He suffered a terrible automobile accident in January, being hit from behind by a girl who was distracted by texting.

May 28th    We drove to Little River, South Carolina to be with our daughter, Beverly, and her children to be able to attend Jessica’s graduation from middle school and Nathan’s graduation from high school. They both received honors, and Nathan received various scholarships which will cover his complete education at Clemson University.

June 7th      Three days after we returned home to Florida, Dotty entered the hospital for a partial knee replacement. We are thankful for the excellent results.  She is progressing nicely.

June 17th    We celebrated our wedding anniversary! We have enjoyed 57 wonderful years together.

June 18th    Myron shared missionary experiences with the junior age children for an exciting week of Vacation Bible School at Missouri Avenue Baptist Church.

June 26th    We received the new Spanish edition of the book, Becoming a True Christian.  All 3,070 books were carefully placed into a climate controlled storage facility for future distribution.  We praise the Lord that we can now fill the backorders.

July 9th       A group of brethren from our church in Guadalajara prepared diligently the past three months for their Daily Vacation Bible School.  This week 140 children are attending each morning from 9:00 to 1:00!  Last year they had great results from the DVBS with many new families attending the church services. After receiving weekly Bible classes using the book, Becoming a True Christian, 4 parents, 2 young people and 1 child have been converted. Praise the Lord!

July 16th     Dotty will receive her monthly injection in her right eye to detain the wet-macular degeneration that she has had for over two years.  We praise the Lord that she has had a slight improvement in her vision.

July 23rd     Family Camp for our church in Guadalajara will be held for one week at a rented camp-facility outside of Guadalajara.  It is always such a special blessing for the 120 who are planning to attend this year.

August 1st  Pastor Miguel Camacho and his 9-year-old son, Adrian, are planning to come to be with us for 25 days!   Eighteen months ago we were in Guadalajara with him for the home-going of Clement, his precious wife.  We are really looking forward to their visit. Both Pastor Miguel and I will be preaching in several churches in central Florida while he is here.  What a special time this will be for all of us!  We will appreciate your prayers.

We thank the Lord for you and the important part that you have in our ministry.  Thank you again for your prayers and faithful financial support. May the Lord richly bless you!

Sincerely in Christ,

Pastor Myron & Dotty Philippi

April 2012 – Special Update – Leeta Mae Oaks Danielson

Dear Family and Friends,

Greetings in the name of our wonderful  Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.   I am sending this letter to all of our mailing list since many knew my mother’s sister, Leeta Danielson, who Dotty and I have been caring for during the past 8 years.

Three days after her 102nd birthday, Aunt Leeta Mae Oaks Danielson passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11:25 p.m.

Leeta Mae Oaks Danielson was born on April 16, 1910 in Harris, Anderson County, Kansas, the fifth child of Lizzie and Christopher Oaks.  She was preceded in death by her late husband, Widmer Danielson on August 7, 1991, and also three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by several nephews and nieces:  Myron and Dorothy Philippi of Saint Petersburg, Florida, Paul and Ruth Philippi of Antigua Guatemala, Carol and Jim Forest of Hastings, Minnesota, Donna and Burl Penny of Troy, Kansas, Dr. Edward and Stephanie Funk of Garfield, Massachusetts, Charlotte Holmgren of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rex Oaks of California, DeWayne Oaks of Oklahoma and James Stock of Divine, Texas and two step-daughters, Vera and John Ferrazzano of Bradenton, Florida, and Rae Liljestrand of Thomasville, Georgia.

Leeta was educated in Coleridge, Nebraska, and attended McPherson College in Kansas.  She taught in the elementary school systems of Kansas and Missouri for thirty years before retiring in June 1976.  While in Kansas City, Missouri she attended the Blue Ridge Bible Church where she came to know the Lord under the ministry of Dr. Walter Wilson.

Leeta and Widmer Danielson were married in Kansas City, March 7, 1976 and moved to Clearwater, Florida. For eight summers she and her husband, managed the bookroom at the Cedar Lake Bible Conference Grounds in Indiana and for another eight summers they also managed the Bible Book Store at Gull Lake Bible and Missionary Conference Grounds in Michigan.

They became members of Starkey Road Baptist Church, and in 1984 Aunt Leeta started the Missionary Work Day at the Church and faithfully served as director for 23 years.  She was affectionately called “Sarg.” Several years later the Wordless Book ministry joined with Missionary Work Day to serve the Lord and missionaries together, meeting every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from September through May.  It grew to have 80 to 100 in attendance.  It was an answer to Aunt Leeta’s prayers to turn over the leadership to Dorothy Bowers in 2008.

Beginning in 2001 Aunt Leeta had “Get-Acquainted-Parties” inviting new-comers or lonely people to her home.  She entertained between 200 and 300 people each year until 2007.  Pastor Jerry Lancaster and the members of Starkey Road Baptist Church honored Aunt Leeta with a plaque to recognize her dedicated service to the Lord and to the church.  What a blessing she was to so many people!

Viewing will be at Starkey Road Baptist Church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012.  The funeral service will follow with Pastor Jerry Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Royal Palm North Cemetery at 2600 Gandy Blvd., St. Petersburg, Fl. 33702.

APPRECIATION:  On behalf of the family, we wish to express our gratitude for your many kindnesses evidenced in thought and deed.

Sincerely in Christ,

Myron and Dotty

P.S. Enclosed is the bulletin that will be used at her funeral service tomorrow.

March 2012

March 23, 2012  Dear Praying Friends,

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, for your fellowship in the Gospel from the first day until now.”  Philippians 1:3-5

Thank you so very much for your faithful prayers, encouragement and financial support that you have given this past year.  We thank God daily for the part that you have had in the ministry of Becoming a Christian Organization, Inc.  We want you to know how very much we appreciate your contributions to this on-going work.

As you will recall, our Board of Directors decided last year to offer the fundamental missionaries serving in foreign counties the opportunity to print the book,Becoming a Christian, in the country where they are serving and to take the responsibility of its distribution.  Because of this great need Becoming a Christian Organization is offering them a grant of 50% for the first 2,000 books to be printed in their language.  Because of your love offerings, you are making this possible.  We thank God for the requests that we have received to the present date from the Dominican Republic, Argentina and Brazil to print the book in their countries.

It is exciting to see how the Lord is opening many opportunities to share the Gospel through SKYPE, e-mail, internet, phone contacts and home Bible studies as we serve Him here and around the world. This keeps us extremely busy! Again, we thank you for standing with us and having a part in this ministry.  We are so very grateful for all that you have done for us.  May God richly bless you!

With sincere appreciation,

Pastor Myron and Dotty Philippi
